York Races
The York racecourse is set on the south outskirts of York in the locally named venue of the Knavesmire. It is a venue seeped in history though has become home to horse racing since 1731
Whilst there are races throughout the year, the August bank holiday weekend is arguably the most popular time to attend when it plays host to the Ebor festival meeting.
The festival takes place over 4 days; this year it was held from the 22nd-25th August
The Wednesday is Juddmonte International day, Thursday is Ladies' day, Friday, Nunthorpe day and the Saturday finishes with Ebor day
This year there was an added excitement as the worlds best racehorse Frankel raced in the Juddmonte International stakes on the opening day of the festival. The owner, trainer and jockey were asking an extra 10 furlongs from the superstar and he didn't disappoint with his lucky number 13 consecutive career win
Other highlights included Frankie Detori winning his first Ebor and Alex (from Now and Then Events) taking a rare time out from emails to enjoy ladies day
